Glad you posted that message Zardon,.... I've been logging on and off all morning and had noticed that a certain "Catalyst Maker" had been listed as "online" each of my visits.

I look forward, hopefully to the end of the mysterious monitor shutdown behaviour I've been experiencing with the 3.9 suite.

CAT v3.10? That's pretty confusing, why not just name them v4.0, I mean isn't v3.1 the same as v3.10... otherwise they should have named them v3.01 previously.

"OpenGL Shading Language Support"
This release adds support for the OpenGL Shading Language (GLSL), a flexible, forward-looking, and hardware-independent high-level graphics programming language. The OpenGL Shading Language, defined as an open standard by the OpenGL Architecture Review Board, allows application developers to take advantage of the powerful programmable vertex and pixel processing units present in the 3D graphics system. Open languages offer developers the fastest route to using the latest graphics hardware features. Developers who are interested in using the OpenGL Shading Language with ATI hardware should contact ATI Developer Relations (devrel@ati.com) for more details and documentation. This feature is available for the following ATI RADEON™ family product line:

ATI RADEON™ 9800 series
ATI RADEON™ 9700 series
ATI RADEON™ 9600 series
ATI RADEON™ 9500 series

Hmm, what's this all about?

Yes ati has a strange version naming. But the 3 stand for 2003 and 1-10 are the releases. Imho they it would have been better to name them 3.01-3.10 but on the other hand who cares

i think the big ordeal about 4.0 v. 3.10 is that the number before the decimal (4) implies a new build number of the drivers as opposed to modifications.

i don't know if that means the NEXT set will be 3.11 or 4.0, so we'll just have to wait and see..

Well since they won't be releasing a new set after 3.10 this year. The next set will probably 4.0

Hmm my finger is getting numb from pressing F5 all the time on ati's website, :P

The next set will be 4.0 i think i think it has to do with the years : 2003: 3.0 - 3.10 2004: 4.0 - 4.??

P.S. it's funny to see how many people there are online on the forum now, :P

This section provides information on new features found in this release of the CATALYST™ Display Drivers. This release of CATALYST™ provides users with a new feature known as OpenGL Shading Language Support.

OpenGL Shading Language Support
This release adds support for the OpenGL Shading Language (GLSL), a flexible, forward-looking, and hardware-independent high-level graphics programming language. The feature is available for all operating systems supported by the CATALYST™ software driver.

I would surely like to know which games are going to use that /using it.

I'll explain this a little further than Nuke209 did...

The "3" in the catalyst iteration number is the final digit of the year, so... in this case the "3" comes from this year, 2003.

The number following the "." is derived from the number release of that year. Hence it is called Catalyst 3.10 and the 0 is not ignored.

The catalyst 4.x will come with the first driver release of 2004.

Hope that explains it ok for ya mate.
