Windows XP SP2 Beta Build 2055 Released

Neowin reports that Microsoft has released a new beta build of Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. It will still be a while till we see it online but by what is being said and shown, it seems that it will really have a lot of enhancements for Windows XP.

Neowin is NOT posting download links, these are just screenshots that they have.

Installed it a couple of hours ago, so far there are a few enhancements in the ICF and Pop-up blocker that came out of nowhere.

Im definitely liking this build thus far

No issues and the popup blocker works great

oh and Windows Update V5 is much much better than V4

dude uxthe dill works fine man....

any une theme dill from sp1 build 11xx work even on 1213....
1213's been working fine on my sp2 1240
i dout there will be any issues with 1255

The redistributable is not out. The express version is the only one available at this point in time.

Now the only bogus thing is that I can't uninstall 1213 (don't have it archived) so I have to find a way to hack the inf or something to force it to install...
Any ideas?

no, actually I got it a diffrent way

..

reinstall sp1a! reboot
then install sp2 2055

your mail box is full i tryed to pm you

I don't think it would let me install SP1 over SP2.1213 but it's worth a try.

its 168 mb rared
its 193 mb zipped

many asked why i use rar files once thats why higher compression/smaller file sizes

I actually got a hold of the real SP1 not the SP1a...
Said what I thought it would...cannot install SP1 over a newer version.
This is not that big a deal...the only thing that I care about is that SP2 final will install over 1213...but in the meantime I'll try to figure out how to get this one to work.

there is a way to trick the installer... the checks for the windows version bet it all stored in a basic config file..... and i dont know what to chage.. but its update.inf if you wanna try

a scary thing i like to add is this service pack is time bombed @ 180 days!

You can slipstream 2055 to an i386-folder on your hdd, and upgrade your OS.

I have that .psf one.. what do you unpack it with?? I have never seen .psf before.

i have all the setup files unpacked all rard up in a file....
