Maxtor to Boost HDD Performance by 60%
Maxtor Corporation – a well-known maker of hard disk drives – has announced its new software driver that may boost performance of HDDs produced by the company by stunning 60%, according to some reports
MaxBoost is performance-boosting driver software which operates under Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP and which is designed to complement your Parallel ATA or Serial ATA hard disk drive by Maxtor. The MaxBoost driver intelligently caches data in the host system RAM before it is written to and read from the Maxtor disk drive, enhancing the effective storage speed of your system under a variety of system conditions and applications. “Maxtor has released a new version of its MaxBoost Driver that is supposed to boost performances up to 60% on their hard disk drives,” a person, who tested the latest beta version of MaxBoost said. You can grab the software to increase performance of your HDD.HERE Before downloading: read this post by The_Neon_Cowboy |

I'm a bit skeptical about that claim. Everyone posts what was thier largest recordable increase but never what the average or expected increase. I'll be sticking with my Barracuda's.

I just tried this on my Maxtor ata 133 40gb drive and it does seem to load /read things a little faster, but It often pops up during games and says it has "run out of memory" and it disables itself..? I guess its beta and buggy...

I have 256MB PC2100 and I've never had any problems. I know I should buy more but I don't need it enough to actually make me want to buy it.

256MB isn't even enough to get some new games to start up and quite a few of the ones that do will still perform horribly due to RAM shortage.

came up with "does not support dual cpu's" as i have only one cpu it must be incompatible with hyper-thread p4's. |

Well this I truly doubt.. I will put $$ down you are wrong. Especially if you are putting your drive against a Seagate SATA. Seagate is the only HD maker to date that has a TRUE SATA set up in their drives. All other HD makers use a board in the HD to convert from ATA to SATA. |

FYI, I can play all the newest games that come out and have no problems putting all settings on max in Max Payne 2, MOHAA and expansions, Splinter Cell, NFSU, WC3 + FT, PoP, and all the other brand new games that just came out that I don't even feel like naming. My swapfile is set to 384-512 and it never needs to increase, it just stays at 384. I will most likely get a new stick of memory when I get my 64-bit system set up. Why would I invest in RAM for this mobo when I won't have it that much longer. |

about memory.I said I have NO PROBLEMS with games, which means I don't have problems with my games. Now this does not mean that I do have problems with games...don't misunderstand me. I Never had to adjust my swap file higher as my system doesn't need it. It never even uses the whole 384MB anyways, only about 135MB so WHY would I increase it?

The only thing i ment is if you have problems with the newest games to run smootly, increase your swapfile. With Games like Halo And Deus ex 2, i'm sorry i express my self wrong it runs smootlier with a larger swap file' lot of Gamers have problems with this two games that they don't run smootly if it isn't in your case leave your swap file on the amount you have I ment it for other people to who read this thread too espesialy for WHOBETTA The games i mentioned are wining about shorten of memory with this two games, and i Have 2x 512 corsair sticks running about 400 Mhz as system memory, and windows moke the swapfile greater than yours and i have to increase the swap file. I hope this misunderstanding from my side is forgiven Friendly greatings and a merry christmas for you, and you all. Last edited by Murdock; Dec 24, 2003 at 11:44 AM. |
