UT2004, 2003 No Longer Network Compatible

"Though Unreal Tournament 2004 was once meant to share network servers with its immediate predecessor, a recent announcement from Epic Games' Tim Sweeney confirms that's no longer the case.

"UT2004 players won't be able to play on UT2003 servers as originally planned," he said. "We had initially planned to support that, but the network code has changed so much in order to reduce bandwidth, support vehicles, and increase performance, that we couldn't keep the two games network-compatible."

Marketting and common sense..

Ok, if UT2K3 was compatible with UT2K4.. how would the money pour in for Epic? The pro about this is, UT2K4 will not be hindered with compatibility issues with UT2k3. The downside to this? UT2K3's lifespan was cut real short.
