Approved NVIDIA Drivers For 3DMark03 Article @ Rojakpot

This just came in from my good friend Adrian @ Rojakpot, it surely makes interesting reading......

" Futuremark recently asked us to redo our benchmarks using the only NVIDIA driver they approved for use with 3DMark03. But that approved driver has a "3DMark03-specific optimization"! So, what's going on??!

We talked to Futuremark to see what's up with that "approved" driver and its "3DMark03-specific optimization". Let's see what they have to say! "

Asked and answered, there's a thread over at B3D about it that they've been chewing it over for a while and Worm spoke in....I'll try and hunt it up.

Basically, IIRC, the test in question isn't part of the final score so they don't consider it a truly show-stopper cheat as it ain't going to affect the ORB submission.

There's a much more interesting debate going on with FM over there on the 53.03 drivers since nVidia re-enabled their cheats around the 3dm2k3 3.45 patch. A whole lot of people, (me included, I think I even started a the thread about it ), don't think that just not posting drivers on their approved list isn't enough....'specially since even a beta member of FM spaced it and used the 53.03 set in a review. (<----Yeah, it's a serious problem that they REALLY need to address quickly to maintain any hope of credibility...but it's funny too! )

Just my .02, sorry to butt in.

ByteMe summed it up best over there, "nVidia's gotta quit acting so slimey and FutureMark has to grow some balls!"...or something close to that.
