ATI now has a bigger market share than Nvidia
LOS ANGELES, Jan 27 (Reuters) - Shares in graphics chip designer Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) dipped on Tuesday after Goldman Sachs questioned whether the company could meet revenue estimates, in light of new research showing it lost market share in the fourth quarter of 2003.
Data released Monday night by Mercury Research showed Nvidia slipping to third in the graphics market with 24.7 percent share, just behind rival ATI Technologies Inc. , which rose to 24.9 percent. Full article |

Crappy and cheap intergrated stuff will always have a larger market share. Notebooks anyone? I am stuck with an 852/855 GME notebook chip from Intel and let me tell ya, what a piece of junk. New drivers to fix problems still present are released very slowly or not at all and so far there is still no updated Linux driver with an installer that works with newer kernels. Oh well, least it has great battery life on the upside.
