Intel adds 4GHz Pentium 4 into this year's desktop offerings
"DOWN AT THE PORCUPINE yesterday we saw Intel's latest roadmaps which confirm that it will be able to offer a 4GHz Pentium 4 for sale by the end of the year. Intel's been broadcasting these hopes for quite a while.
And as revealed elsewhere today, Intel 925X and 915 are the names for the Alderswood and Grantsdale chipset. The Grantsdale 915GV and GL are the variants for Intel's "Third Generation" integrated graphics, but the 910GL will be backward compatible with 478 pin Prescotts. As we've written elsewhere, Intel wil introduce a 3.40GHz Northwood version of its Extreme Edition on February 2nd next. But it will also produce an LGA 775 version of this chip in the second quarter" Full article: The inq |

Sounds like this year should be very promising for AMD then, as a 4GHz Prescott won't stand a chance unless AMD in turn would unexpectedly experience some serious manufacturing issues. Intel could of course compete with significant price cuts, but they will probably try running on their name for as long as possible before touching their famed premium margins. That would mean that AMD could cash in more too and still stay on top of the price/performance league.

Well..Well..
Nice, nice. I'm interested with the improvements in their HT technology. The GHz is not a major factor for me, it's the features.

Roadmaps tend to mean next to nothing, Ill believe it when it happens. Just a few weeks ago they pulled it, wait and see and only use maps as general direction guides.
