AMD's chairman to step down

"Computer chip maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. said on Wednesday its board appointed President and Chief Executive Officer Hector Ruiz as chairman-elect to replace company founder Jerry Sanders.
AMD said Ruiz, who joined the company in 2000, is expected to become chairman after the company's annual meeting on April 29. Ruiz became chief executive in 2002. AMD's current chairman Sanders will serve as chairman emeritus.
