Gigabyte's 3D Cooler Pro
A Cooler Debut
"Ninety-nine percent of the CPU coolers on the market follow a simple principle of construction: a trellis of cooling fins is mounted on a base plate, which is several millimetrers thick. An axial flow fan blows cooler air onto the heat sink, causing heat to dissipate quickly into its surroundings. So far, two types of models have become widely accepted: one is made out of cost-efficient aluminium, the other out of expensive copper, which also has better heat conductivity." Flash Banner Hater

It's a bit of a beast - at 430 grams, somewhat lardy for a socket-clip heatsink.
Compared to a boxed AMD cooler, a little worse, but a LOT quieter at minimum A good bit better, but a LOT noisier at max RPM. It's really hard to beat some of the cheaper Cu-Al 80mm fan coolers for quiet performance. In every review I've seen, I become more convinced that there is little merit in "exotic" cooler designs, other than in looks. |
