Doom III Date ?

Saw this today posted by Steve at Hardocp.

"Best Buy has updated their shipping date for people that pre-ordered Doom III. The new date shown is July 13th, 2004. Now, conventional wisdom says that Best Buy is in contact with Activision and that is the date they intend on shipping the game. Though that seems reasonable, you never know until it actually goes gold. What is the id Software catch phrase again? “When it’s Done”. Thanks to everyone who sent this one in. "

Its supposed to be the 'Pinky' demon. There'a a small picture at EB if you want to see waht it looks like. It would be cool if I also got the poster like V3 said.

I'm calling BS. BB hasn't been known to be historically accurate with release dates with software.

Not to mention, if the rumors of the NV40 being bundled with D3 prove true, then that puts nV IDIA in a tight spot since the game will come out 3 months after the product hits the streets.

Quite aware of that. However when the deal was closed with ATI, they were under the impression that the game would be forthcoming in the near future, not several months later. The expectation of folks that bought the card was the same. Very good for revenues in the near term.

Getting a copy of Doom3 with the clear expectation that it's coming a few months after the release of the card is a different situation than what happened with Valve/ATI.
