The new AMD Athlon FX-53 processor presumably destined to come out late next month will be packed in 940-pin package and will require a couple of registered PC3200 DIMM modules to show its real power with dual-channel memory controller. At 2.40GHz, the AMD64 architecture featuring large caches, powerful FPU and ALU units, efficient pipeline as well as micro-architectural optimizations along with SSE2 technology support would allow the microprocessor to be the most powerful CPU in the desktop market today."
