To Bridge or Not to Bridge
Beyond3d's Dave Baumann has just posted a short editorial on ATI and Nvidia's PCI express strategy, you can find it at the link below...
"As we discussed previously NVIDIA has announced their "HSI" (High Speed Interconnect) PCI-Express bridge chip. The HSI bridge chip allows their current line of AGP enabled boards to communicate with PCI-Express chipsets, immediately giving rise to the "PCX" range of GeForce boards that can operate in the PEG 16X slot of PCI-Express enabled motherboards. At present it seems likely that native PCI-Express graphics chips will be produced by NVIDIA later in the year. " Full Article |

Wow so you are or this article is saying that you can use an adapter for your AGP video card to run on a new mobo with PCI express and have a the same badwidth as a PCI express card?

I do not think so Sourcer. All an adapter will do is allow the AGP card work on a PCI Express board and hopefully maintain 8X AGP performance. That's all we can hope for really.
