DRAM production problems cause DDR price rise

"DIFFICULTIES WITH YIELDS of semiconductors mean that prices of DDR memories are set to rise for another two months.

According to Nam Hyung Kim, a senior analyst at iSuppli, a shortfall in supply has led to spot sellers snapping up as much memory as they can, precipitating the rises.

Two large suppliers of DRAM not named by iSuppli are struggling to get the yields right on latest process technologies and that problem is set to stay until the end of May.

Price rises will increase in March, said Kim, with big jumps for 256Mbit DDR 333 and 400MHz memory."

Awww

I was waiting for memory price drops! I remember the days when a stick of Crucial PC2700 512 MB was only $99 CAD
