Its fun reading translated german... its like talking to yoda.

Um anyway so tell me again why Germans always get the scoop first? I mean ATI headquarters is located in Canada last I checked.

R400 Canceled
R420 Highlights:
PS 2.x (as dx10 wont be out till longhorn in 2006 anyway)
160 million transistors, 130nm tech
8 Render pipelines
6 vertex shaders
256 bus with support for GDDR1, 2, 3
500MHZ clock speed.

Have a look at their chart... which causes me some doubt. I mean its a little too early to be making pci-express hardware only. I mean your choice for mobo's is A64(which are still too costly above low cost machines) or a few scattered intel boards. Something seems like ATI is hoping the pci-e boost to carry the next line of chips as they don't seem that much beefed up over the current generation. Though time will tell. Though it doesent look like were going to get any new huge features this go round.

are you talking about the 3rd quarter 2004? when you say PCI-ex only, you're talking about R480 right?

"We can confirm free of doubts that the ATi R420-Chip will not offer Shader 3,0 support."

Is this good or bad? It will mean faster ps2.0 and vs2.0 but will hand nvidia a great marketing advantage just when they need one.

Well, its hard to read... but from what their showing and what I've heard graphics card companies are going to push pci-e hard. Though your probably right that the 480 will be the only card thats PCI-e only. I'm guessing the others will have AGP variants.
