"Since its first appearance in October 2002, BitTorrent has been seen primarily as a tool for sharing TV shows, movies, and just about any type of large file. Its widespread adoption and benefits are beginning to attract the attention of companies looking for alternate means of distributing software. This is proving to be especially true for games. Valve was the first company on the bandwagon with the adoption of Steam, their distributed publishing application. Now it appears that Blizzard will be adopting BitTorrent as well for its World of Warcraft beta test."
