In our Athlon 64 3000+ review, we discussed the current state of Socket 754 motherboards. If you have read that review, you know that at this point in time, the selection is unimpressive. With only two first generation chipsets to choose from, Via K8T800 and nVidia nForce3 150, it is no surprise that these early models have their fair share of rough edges. Today I have for review one of the nForce3 motherboards, the Gigabyte K8N Pro. Gigabyte is not usually a player in the top tier overclocking motherboard market, but there is a reason why the K8N Pro has attracted many of the Athlon 64 early adopters. In this review I will take a look at what makes this motherboard an attractive option in the S754 field, as well as take a look at what unfortunate shortcomings and quirks it possesses.
