Windows XP SP2 to contain DirectX 9.0C ?
I noticed something interesting today after installing SP2 RC1 and checking out the Information section of SoundStorm's control panel. What is shows is DX 9.0c. So I did some checking and my DXDIAG shows it as the "b" version. I asked Forum Gold Member The_Neon_Cowboy what his Dxdiag showed and he said the same thing. So I asked him what version numbers did he show. Mine is 4.09.0000.0903 and his is 4.09.0000.0902. Could this be the DX9c that we've all been waiting for or is this an error with the NV Mixer? Why does the RC1 of SP2 for Windows XP have a slightly different version?
Here is a screenshot of the normal DX9b for Windows XP: Now here is what I show on my dxdiag screen with SP2 RC1: This is what The_Neon_Cowboy shows on his "Information" page for the NV Mixer: Now take a look at what mine shows for Direct X version. This is very interesting.

Defiantly an advanced build of dx9 and if I had to speculate I say most likely it's probubly a DX9c Beta of some sort but it says "final retail" which makes me wonder is this a test run of the final build or what? mabe only time will tell....

Tomorrow I am going to run some tests and see if there is a performance difference between these two builds of DX9. Unless someone beats me to it.

why not? that sucker (if it actually real and available today)... would slaughter the 9800xt's and the 5950's without even filling up it's secondary bin memory allocation unit.....

Because of the 16 single pass texture capability and 8 blending stages (hypothetically - if fake...)?
I know the PowerVR architecture is different - but not in depth...

never noticed that.... great catch....however... the way the defferend renderer are designed... the isn't a limit on how many textures per pass it can do.... however.. blending stages may most likely be different.... not quite sure.... (i think they are building to DX9.0(c?)'s requirments.... with DX8 i think the max was 8 for sure.... and the kyro cards were able to do it..... But i'll have to look into the Blending stages....(thanks for the tip on that one)

Hi. I badly need the following stuff. I have recently installed DirectX 9.0c and found that many programs do not run anymore, particularly some games. It seems like the latest DirectX version does more harm than good. I have run DxDiag and have learned that many dll's are required and downloaded them all, but DxDiag also had told me that I need
dpnsvr.exe but I cannot find it anywhere. Can anybody e-mail it to karabalsagun@yahoo.co.uk ? I would be glad if it is possible. |
