Appeals Court rules that cable ISPs may have to share lines

"In a decision released today, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has rebuffed the FCC's attempt to revisit an earlier decision in which the court disagreed with the FCC's determination that cable broadband was an "information service." The ruling means that cable networks are more similar "telecommunications services" and will allow for increased municipal regulation of cable, including the possibility of forcing cable companies to open up their infrastructure for third-party ISPs. It forces the FCC to revisit their definitions to come up with one that better describes the cable as part telecommunication and part information."

wow nice.. now maybe we can have optimum online move over here and offer their 9mb speed for $50 and drive out our local cable company that gets $40 for 3mbit and they are soon to offer 4mbit and think that $80 isn't a bad deal for it...

not really just becouse they have to share lines doen't mean they can't charge a permium for the use and maintanace of thier lines

Look @ the phone companies
you get cheap 10 10 220 or w/e
They lease liens for cheaper than you can believe... they also charge way less than the phone co.... this drove down prices of long distance as well as cell phones have
