No Windows XP SE as Longhorn jettisons features

"Microsoft won't ship an interim version of Windows, retail or otherwise, before Longhorn according to email seen by Business Week. The memos from a week ago suggest that Microsoft is jettisoning features from Longhorn in order to meet the ship date of the first half of 2006."

I never NEEDED a new operating system (from Win3.1) until hardware and software came out that didn't support it.

I'm now beginning to see that if I choose to run newer software and hardware, I might need XP - but who needs XP "second edition"? - the bugs, holes and vulnerabilities need patching, but anyone who already has XP sure as hell doesn't want to have to BUY the fixes for the mistakes Microstuffup made!

Remember that James Bond flim "The World is not Enough"

Carver Media ... "and is the software full of bugs, so the users will be upgrading for years"

Yes, I AM trying to stir up hate for software companies, whose main business model seems to be based on forcing customers into updates they don't need, and trying to keep them captive as well.

Time to bite the bullet and learn Linux, I guess, and everyone should be demanding OPEN solutions, with OPEN file formats - if you get tied down to Office 200x, NOBODY CAN HELP YOU ESCAPE!
