Enermax CS-800TA Case review

"Let's face it, mass manufactured computer cases have to serve a standard function that dictates much of the design form. That is why a vast majority of them pretty much look the same with a few superficial and material differences. We have looked at several cases from Enermax cases and, so far, they have pretty much been the same chassis with a few cosmetic differences and a handy functional element here and there separating them. Now we take a look at their new case, the CS-800TA-S (again I say, Enermax needs to come up with an easier model numbering system) which promises a trip down a less beaten path.

When you get down to it, the heart of this box remains just a place to keep your ATX components but it also has a bit more stylish soul than the run-of-the-mill case. The cases we have looked at recently from Enermax have all come with really nice paint jobs that make other cases look like they were covered with house paint. This one is no different. In addition to the nice silvery coat, it also has some simple and clean elements I really like. Enermax offers this model in several very vibrant colors such as: white, silver, red, yellow, and green. The main thing that sets it apart are the large radius rounded corner edges. Other items like: silver micro-mesh fan filters (one of which acts like a dial to control fan speed), the recessed latch handle on the side panel, and the temp probe readout all add up to a unique package. Read on and I will get into more detail.

But first, what are the official specs according to Enermax?

• Patent adjustable fan speed dial on side panel
• Temp. display with blue backlight on front panel
• Meshed fan quard framed with chromium electroplate under bay area
• Side fan with rubber bolts for shock & noise absorption
• Fit ATX, Micro ATX, Extend ATX M/B
• Slot clamp for superior fastening
• Handle for easy side panel assembly
• Streamline arc chassis with silky finish
• Front I/O interface with USB 2.0*2, Audio in/out. IEEE 1394"
