Coolermaster Hyper 6

I listed this article under "Preview" since the product isn't quite available at this time. Actually, this product was send by mistake. The real deal is, I don't have a Pentium 4 or AMD K8 setup to test this. So I guess you're reading an analystic review (sorry preview) if such a thing exists. I'm basically going to give you every piece of information regarding this product, I'm even going to include pictures, maybe even setup snapshots, ... the only thing that will lack is the benchmark/performance results . Let's see if you can live with that.

Wow, first time I've seen review piccies of this beast. It's alovely piece of engineering, what we've come to expect of coolermaster.

At 1.06Kg though I wouldn't like to hang this off my motherboard. It's obviously not aimed at fiddlers (like me) who have the case side off more often than on or LAN goers.

It is very big, I'll admit that. But if you notice, the thing isn't meant for a processor that doesn't use a heat spreader, aka a P4 or an Athlon64 are your only options. The heat spreader more than adequately protects the core of the cpu. I'll definitely be looking into reviews of this thing to see how it really works. Clearly if you tried to use one of these on an AthlonXP that has the core exposed, it would just damage the thing in no time. Should be interesting though. (I'm a happy user of an Aero 7+).

System Specs

That and the upcoming metal reinforced socket designs for Intel boards should go well in hand.

FDM80 - I was thinking about the socket lugs.

I think the product actually comes with a piece that actually goes underneath the motherboard to stabilize the area.
