Oslo, Norway -- May 15, 2002: Opera Software ASA today releases the final version of Opera 6.0 for Linux with features that improve the speed and Internet experience for Linux users worldwide. Opera's earlier version for the Linux platform, Opera 5 for Linux, was downloaded and installed over one million times.
Opera 6.0 for Linux is Opera's first foray into the Asian desktop Linux market, with added support for non-Roman alphabets, opening up these markets to full browser competition for the first time. Localized browser will be released at a later date for Japanese and Chinese users.
"Linux users and OEM's have for a long time demanded a better performing Linux browser, and with Opera 6 for Linux we are now answering this call," says Dean Kakridas, VP of Desktop Products, Opera Software.
