Valve admits that it was premature in its release hopes for Half-Life

"Valve kicked off quite a scandal last Fall when they chose ATI over NVIDIA for sponsorship of their upcoming guaranteed-hit, Half-Life 2. Such choices are made all the time, of course, but this instance was a little different. Valve's honcho programmer, Gabe Newell, publicly shamed NVIDIA and their then-current products at the time, saying that they weren't up to snuff for the new DirectX 9 code in beta (or alpha?) builds of Half-Life 2 (and technically, they weren't)."

I'm just tired of Valve/Steam's bullshit...

1 - Optimize the freakin HL (Quake 1) graphical code
2 - Fix the fux0red netcode
3 - Release HL2 already

The shame of it all is Valve that the only other company ( Troika) who has leased the HL2 engine for it's game Vampire the Masquarde: Redemption, can't release the game until HL2 is released according to some mag articles I've read.
If I was Trokia games I would release my game on time and screw GabeNewell.

Personally i dont think that the HL2 delay has affected this game, before e3 last year Troika were not keen to show the game because Valve hadnt shown HL2 really. Thats the only affect i've heard off. I read back at the begining of the year in a dev diary that Troika were still working on character animations etc so still have a fair bit to go then. I would imagine even if valve hits Summer 2004 as planned that Bloodlines will be a late autumn release at the earliest.

It's ok with me if Trokia is held back. I'm really hoping for the heck of it they implement a multiplayer storyteller mode. As it is its "deathmatch with vampires. CS style" (using an experience system purchasing armor and weapons).

Good for action fans, but for those that want to play vampire as an RPG are kind of screwed. I'm sure there will be a mod if they don't do it but still it would be nice if it had it right out of the box.
