R300 Ruby Rap v1
"Colourless has made a wrapper for ATI's Ruby demo so that it is able to run on R3x0 series cards. Great job Colourless!
Download it Here, Readme System Requirements =================== Minimum: 128 MB Video Memory 512 MB System Memory Recommended: 256 MB Video Memory 768 MB System Memory Notes ===== This should work for all 128 MB Radeon 9500 and above cards. A 128 MB card is REQUIRED! It will NOT run on 64 MB cards. If you have a 128 MB card, you should have your AGP aperture size set to 256 MB. You should also change resolution to 640x480 and multisampleType to 1 in Sushi.ini. You 'really' need more than 512 MB of memory to run this other wise speed will probably be terrible, if it runs at all. Make sure your Antialiasing Settings in your Control Panel is set to Application To decrease the size of the shaders so they would work on R300 class card, certain effects are now gone. These include Depth of Field and many specular highlights. A future version may attempt to put these back in." |

I have yet to figure out how to install this in order to run it....as all that is there is the shaders and a .dll file.....
I could be an idiot, but I am just clueless.

The demo looks great with a 9800 Pro! I have 1 Gig of Ram - It ran fine at 1024X768. The insall is easy - Just follow the readme - copy the files into the demo directory.

now if someone makes a naked ruby demo
and full 360 zoom in on the special points that we wanna see the new x800 card take more advantage of (i.e. hair where the sun dont shine, full shaped nipples) |

surprised it runs well at all without 3DC and the power of the X800 series.

Is it possible to run the demo with fraps, would be intresting to see the fps despite the demo being "crippled" of the effects.

Hmmm...it ran surprisingley well on my 9800pro....not laggy at all...
![]() edit: now i ran it at 1280x1024....still pretty smooth...some small stutters..but nothing too serious.. edit2: it must have been my imagination playint tricks on me...i installed fraps and got framerates between 10-35fps....didn't look choppy to me, but fraps don't lie...

Hmm doesn't seem to run on my setup.
Sadly I keep receiving the following error:
//================================================== === // ATI Sushi Error Log Created 5/10/2004 7:13 am //================================================== === [Main.cpp] (line 894): Exception caught - BAD NEWS! My setup is the following: Windows XP Pro Ram: 2 Gigs Video: Radeon 9800XT 256MB 4.4 Catalyst drivers Now I have installed the wrapper properly - who couldn't simply extract this to demo's directory? It will start to load - get to the progress bar - then poof back to desktop with a nice text document informing me of the above error. Hmm doesn't seem to work at all fo me. *going to fiddle with some settings later to see if that corrects the issue.* |

No use. Can't get the wrapper to work.
I don't know what is causing the issue - my specs are fine. But I can't seem to get the wrapper to work with my 9800 XT 256mb Radeon.
I keep receiving the error: //============================================== // ATI Sushi Error Log Created 5/10/2004 12:47 pm //============================================== [Main.cpp] (line 894): Exception caught - BAD NEWS! You would expect a Pentium 4 3.20Ghz 512kb Cache with 2 Gigs of PC3200 ram along side my Radeon 9800 XT to run this since everyone seems to be doing fine with a 9800 Pro. |

....works flawlessly and rather quite fast on my system.... although there are parts that it just lags and fall behind in places... but it doesn't seem graphic related.. more like optimisation in the code itself... as it'll appear to run smoothly without a hitch... then suddenly for no reason freeze on a frame for about 5 seconds sometimes..... HOWEVER.... anyone realize that taking a screenshot results in crappy image?

Can someone please tell me what is "AGP aperture size"? The readme said to increase the AGP aperture size to 256 if I have a 128mb card (which I do). How do I increase the aperture size?
The demo runs quite slow, like 10-20 fps but sometimes goes at one frame per 20 seconds... I hope fixing the aperture size will fix this

actually the mouth closeup is that way... due to precision and other shaders.... i think the Screenshot taker that's built into the program is either been broken... or due to the lack of shaders or whatnot. results in rather not the same image displayed....

that doesn't happen to my screenshots so its not part of the demo program. Maybe the program cartmans using to record the fps

edit- It works fine for me- accept choppy in some spots. If I set the aperture to 256 it runs ALLOT worse than being at the normal 128mb. I only have 512mb of ram though. Hey- has anyone noticed her head and neck are 5 times darker than all the other skin on her? look again- it's in every scene.
