a question i was gonna raise.... hell.. i doubt i'll be able to get DL Recorders here for a good 6months plus

Well here we have more DL recorders than DL media to record so this is kinda pointless.

I'm thinking of getting myself a DVD burner, since more and more stuff is on DVD media. Although I don't wanna buy any crap. I've just figured out that my harddrives aren't the best in the world, so I would like to buy a DVD recorder that lasts long enough.

Is the NEC 2500A a good buy?? Since you can upgrade it to a Dual Layer burner. Because this is why I have been waiting to buy a DVD recorder, until the dual layer burner is out. And now it seems that it is....virtually

i've had one for a while, newegg just had a sale for 80 bucks, they're great burners especially with Herrie's firmware, which allows bitsetting and more media support
