The System Development Kit contains a functioning computer motherboard based on an 800MHz Transmeta Crusoe TM5800 microprocessor along with schematics, design guides, processor specifications, and other items needed to jump-start new product designs
Transmeta Corporation (Nasdaq:TMTA) today announced the availability of the Crusoe TM5800 System Development Kit, which will enable design engineers to quickly develop new mobile and embedded computing platforms using the Crusoe processor. The System Development Kit contains a functioning computer motherboard based on an 800MHz Transmeta Crusoe TM5800 microprocessor along with schematics, design guides, processor specifications, and other items needed to jump-start new product designs. The computer motherboard included in the kit uses an industry standard MicroATX form factor, and has all of the functions of a versatile PC system, including a 3D video graphics accelerator, audio, Ethernet, disk interfaces, three PCI slots, USB, and an infra-red IrDA interface. System memory is provided with standard slots for DDR SODIMM and SDRAM DIMM memory modules. The system is compatible with x86 computer operating systems such as Microsoft Windows(R) XP, Microsoft Windows CE.net, Microsoft embedded Windows XP and versions of the Linux operating system. "Transmeta's Crusoe TM5800 System Development Kit will make it easy for engineers to quickly design energy-efficient computers capable of running x86-compatible operating systems and applications," said Dr. Matthew R. Perry, president and chief executive officer, Transmeta Corporation. "These convenient kits provide the key components and all the documentation needed to rapidly bring up operational Crusoe-based computer designs, and we believe will allow Transmeta to attract a much wider user base." Kits may be purchased for $995 at http://www.transmeta.com/developers/devkit.html or from an authorized distributor.
