Asus 6800 Ultra hits Japan
"NVIDIA DIDN'T SURPRISED us too much when we saw that its 6800 Ultra cards have actually shipped in Japan. Our Japanese colleagues have some pictures of retail cards that are already available for sale.
Asus was the first to ship 6800 Ultra cards even though we would assume that MSI should be the first since it is higher in Nvidia's pecking order. MSI makes a lot of cards for Nvidia and up to this point are an Nvidia only manufacturer. The card, as Nvidia's own Jen Hsun said, needs only one power plug if you don't want to overclock and 350W should be enough he told to its investors. 480W requirements are only meant for overclockers he said. Asus decided to name this card the V9999 Ultra Deluxe following its naming convention. This roughly means that those cards should be available in sample quantities very soon for the US and European press and by the middle of next month they should not be too rare in shops." -Link- _______________________ Source: TheInquirer |

350w is for a system with 1 ram, 1 hd, 1 cdrom, 1 AXP proc..., hopefully both ATI and Nvidia get their distribution going faster...

Some places here in the US have it shipping on 5/27. Seems it will hit stores well before the XT.

. Ati way beat them to the table with the x800pro.And those are estimated dates that have a tendency of getting pushed back they use earlier date to tempt people into pre ordering. With the x800 I’ve watched sites go from ship dates 2-3 days to 5-7 days 9-13 days and so on … I'd buy one if i could find on for sale for about $50 becouse thats aboue all thier worth to me till they cut out the driver cheats and optimisations
