Slightly OT: After I installed I set the date ahead 4 years in the BIOS and rebooted. Everything went fine, booted up with no trouble and all apps worked. I don't think there is any type of time-bomb in 1102. Eran - PM me for more details about the slipstream process. Here's a pic of my sysprops with the date set 4 years ahead:

Hello all! I've been following DriverHeaven for just a little while now and I finally managed to actually register to the forums. Why? Well, because of a slight problem with Windows XP SP1 build 1102 :P
Since installing, which occured without a hitch mind you, I've been getting frequent messages popping up on the desktop stating that Windows Explorer has encountered a problem, much like any other Windows XP error message, and must shut down. Of course, Explorer then relaunches itself without a problem, but there still remains this issue, at least for myself. Has anyone else encountered this problem with 1102? The previous nine or so builds before did not encounter this kind of error before. I'm not sure what is causing it, I'm really only switching between the Internet or closing My Computer, something normal, that causes Windows Explorer, the shell, not the file and folder browser, to shut down, start bar and all, and to restart, like it should anyway. Oh well, no bother really, I'm sure a future build will address some of these things and more. I've enjoyed these forums a lot in the past few months. Thanks to everyone who contributed in some way so we could all enjoy the tweaks and fixes for the operating system of choice. -Skippy |

Unlikely. Corp users would be more likely to simply not install SP1 if required to change the cd keys on every workstation. That's thousands of lost man-hours, something reserved for deployments only. As for the speaker - no, he's incorrect. It won't install on a copy which uses one of many known pirated corporate keys; however, a key that doesn't appear in the blacklist will update without any problems whatsoever. |

OK. I managed to slipstream 1102, and make it a bootable CD. Didn't have to change any files. I found an old drive and performed a fresh install. No problem with a "blue" key. Windows is properly installed and WPA says Windows already Activated.
So if MS is planning something else for us - we'll only see it on the final version. By the way, the fresh install has "Windows XP Professional" on the left side of the Start menu. I don't have that on my other instalation. Anyone know why and how to get it back? |

MS published a FAQ page for SP1 and has a part on the CD key subject http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/basi...faq.asp#wxpsp1
Among other things stated is this: What are the product keys that are affected by this? We are not publishing the product keys themselves, however the product IDs generated from these product keys are (where X may be any numeric value): XXXXX-640-0000356-23XXX XXXXX-640-2001765-23XXX Now this is strange, because most of of the Blue keys are not with 640 in them, rather 644, 645, etc. I guess we'll know soon enough

There are 2 steps:
1) Slipstreaming - extract the sp1.exe (or whatever you called it) file to a directory on your windows root (say C:\SP1) using winzip, winrar or the command "sp1.exe -x" (go to where the sp1.exe is saved, open a command prompt and type sp1.exe -x, press enter, windows will verify the file and than prompt you to where to extract it). Than, extract the entire WXP CD to a folder on the root (say C:\CD). Now click Sart>Run and type: C:\SP1\i386\UPDATE\UPDATE.EXE -S:C:\CD Windows will now update your instalation folder. 2) Burning a bootable CD - go to http://www.windowsxp.nu/bootcd/default.htm for the complete instructions. Note that if you use Nero you have to adapt the instrucions to Nero, and you need to DL and run a small registry fix from the same page (nero.reg) |

it's perfect build!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
first SP with wich work my Settlers 4 (and even Settlers 3) without Exeption Error was 1090 build, with 1097 build I again see Error. 1102 - wauuuuuuuuuu - ALL WORK AND PLAY - I'm satisfaction. I think the final build may be 1111 (Microsoft like "round" numbers) remember: Windows 98SE - 4.10.2222 Windows Me - 4.10.3000 Windows XP - 5.1.2600 in my mind Windows XP SP1 - 5.1.2600.1111 |

microsoft seems to be releasing a build a day. 1102 shows 08/19/2002. which is 9 days from expected release add 9 to 1102 & you get 1111. |

Hi!.. I just slipstreamed my XP CD with the 1102 SP and I can't install it with any of the many keys I have generated and that have already worked when doing an update on an already installed copy. Are there some files that need to be replaced? I keep getting and Invalid Key message.
Thanks for your help |

I think you (we) should all wait for the official SP1 release. Then someone with all the appropriate knowledge should post a DEFINITIVE guide for making a bootable slipsteamed copy of XP Corp.
This should also include details on how to revert a Corp. installation that SP1 beta has turned into a Pro. installation, back into a proper Corp. installation!

Just 2 files were changed everything else is the same.
Here is the correct files for corp Sp1 Files | Files in slipstream ipseldpc.dl_ | dpcdll.dl_ ipselpid.dll | pidgen.dll This works for Legit versions I've tested. |
