Envy News has posted a review on Lite-On's LVW-5005 Video Recorder - Lite-On's newest replacement for the VCR.
- "Not too long ago, there was a day when home electronics and computer technology were pretty much two separate entities. When you asked someone if they had a blank tape, it was meant either for the VCR or (even longer ago) the cassette deck; you didn’t have to worry with it ending up next to the computer. Fast forward to today when pretty much everything is interchangeable or interconnected. The PC is now integrated into much of our daily lives. Home Theatre PCs are de rigueur and have a wide niche market; DVD burners are out in abundance and video cards can hook up an abundance of different devices besides just the monitor. Pick the right components, find a good case, get everything hooked up and configured and you’re good to go. Unfortunately, the cost involved is sometimes outside of the non-enthusiasts comfort zone, especially if the system is going to be a second or third PC. Plus, the constant fight over watching TV or checking email would drive even the sanest family batty."
