DH Article: ATI PCI Express Preview
Today ATI announced the release of its PCI express range of video cards built around their latest graphic core technology. The graphics cards announced today are the PCI variant of the Radeon X800 along with the Radeon X600 and the Radeon X300. ATI have also announced the release of the ATI Axiom which will be covering the mobile sector.
This is the first time ive done a "preview" of an ATI range but there has been so much talk about PCI Express this year I feel its a worthwhile endeavour to even take a glimpse at the new hardware which will be hitting the shelves shortly. This was up a little later than I wanted but ive been exceptionally busy. enjoy. read here |

hey how did you get all that information. But pretty impressive stuff ati has comming. especially their mobile technology graphics card is wicked. so PCI express is twice as fast as AGP 8?
how come people who use agp 4 instead of 8 do not see such a performance drop?

Because the cards and systems still don't fully utilize the bandwidth all AGP 8x is like a 4x slot with a DDR bus mode. There exists more then one bottle neck and they cards are not fast enough and the applications aren’t demanding enough to utilize its full potential. Even with the new PCI express we’ve just began to scratch the surface with its new capabilities. Just wait till you see the next generations!
