ATi Axiomatic: Claims 90 per-cent of PCI-E wins

"THE MOBILE MARKET IS STARTING to become extremely important because in the US of A and in Japan, consumers buy as many notebooks as they buy desktops. Currently at 50/50 per cent of market it appears that the battle will become even more intense.

ATI told us that it has as much as 70 per cent of the mobile AGP market. This number is surely a huge one and definitely speaks to the fact that it's doing very well with mobiles.

Its mobile division is much happier to discuss things as it not so critical and loud as the usually over frustrated guys in the desktop business. There's far less pressure, in short.

We also learned that back in the past days when ATI got to 60 per cent of the market it simply could not believe that it could climb higher, close to where the clouds start.

As for PCI-E, Axiom is an ATI exchangeable card module similar to the NV MXM and ATI is happy to declare that it has nearly 90 percent of PCI-E wins.

This number is definitely extremely low as Nvidia can not be that bad in mobile business. Yes, we asked twice since the number was unbelievable."
