I have a question. The AGP version of the card is the Platinum Edition and the PCIe version is the non-Platinum version, correct? Is there a difference in the clock speeds? I'm just curious...

Correct: 500/500 and 520/560.
Testing setup, page 2 details this and the fact the AGP board was underclocked to 500/500 to match.

"For the purposes of the review due to the core and ram timing differences between the AGP X800XTPE 520/560 and the PCIe (non PE) 500/500, the AGP counterpart was underclocked to match."

Heh, see what I get for skimming the review? Thanks Zardon!

In light of this, I totally agree that there's no compelling reason to go to PCIe at this time. It holds a great deal of promise, but I think I'll personally wait a year or so and see what's best then. I plan to buy a step down from the top of the line card from either ATI or Nvidia this fall and I'm thinking I'll be happy with that for a year or more...

im surprised no one has commented on the peak fps results in some of the tests and the fact the PCIe seems to "win" alot of those. A little hint of the extra bandwidth which will be fully exploited by future hardware perhaps ....

I was more amazed at the lowest fps scores @ 1600 x 1200 4xAA & 16xAF..

I was looking at that........have you tried to use the extra bandwidth in any way? Or is there even a way, currently, to take advantage of the extra bandwidth?

Why not? Do you plan on going somewhere in the future where you won't see any new hardware?

there may not be any AGP versions of the future cards, to compare to the PCIe versions, to see if the bandwidth is any factor.

Ahhh, can't compare something that doesn't exist. Pretty convenient for them huh..

AGP 8x does not really bring any benifits over 4x yet so its gonna be along time before pcie brings any. Its just being released now to future proof themselves.

LOL- then they limit themselves to 75 watts in the process-- ironic, the thing they need, they get wrong, te thing they don't need, they go overkill.
