DELL Inspiron 9100 Review
In the notebook market, the only true mobile multimedia performance machine has got to be the desktop replacement notebooks and rightly so too. Characteristics such as huge screens, powerful processors, specialized Graphics/Visual Processing Unit (GPU/VPU) with a dedicated memory pool and a broad range of connection ports are just some of the components that make these notebooks a cut above its slimmer, lighter but less of a multimedia performer notebook counterparts. Another word closely tied to desktop replacements is physique. These beasty machines are generally known for their dominating stature and as a result of this, they aren't usually ideal portable companions for road warriors.
The Inspiron 9100 is DELL's latest addition to their Inspiron line and cramped under the hood of our review unit is a Pentium 4 3.2GHz processor with Hyper-Threading and 1GB of memory all ready to take on our number crunching applications and game benchmarks. Having a powerful processor is just one technicality the Inspiron 9100 boasts. Delivering the horsepower required to push polygons in our game benchmarks is an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 (ATI M11) running at 446/526MHz (VPU/RAM) clock speeds, and this VPU too command its own dedicated pool of memory that stands at a hefty 128MB - the norm capacity found on desktop VPUs. au contraire!
I haven't had a single problem with my inspiron 8100 over the roughly two years that I've had it, and i've used her hard! This i9100 is the newer model and i'd bet it's just as reliable. Quote:
