Left-Handed FrogPadT Hops Into the Hearts of the World's Lefties

HOUSTON, TX (PRWEB) July 19, 2004 -- FrogPad, Inc. and its strategic solutions partner, Gennum Corporation (TSX: GND), announced today the immediate availability of the left-handed version of FrogPad's one-handed keyboard. Past United States Presidents such as Ronald Reagan, George Bush and Bill Clinton have all been left-handed and now the FrogPad has joined this illustrious group with its new product, Lefty! FrogPad does not discriminate between right-handed, left-handed or ambidextrous people – all are welcome to Frog.

"We are excited to offer a keyboard uniquely designed to fit the needs of the world's lefties. Consumer electronics manufacturers have continually ignored this group, but not FrogPad," stated Linda Marroquin, CEO of FrogPad. "With the left-handed FrogPad, typing, for lefties, is now simple, easy to learn and fitted for the left-handed lifestyle."

To further support FrogPad's involvement with the left-handed population, FrogPad will be sponsoring Lefthanders Day in the UK on August 13, 2004. Left Handers Day goal is to raise awareness of the challenges caused by living in a right-handed world as well as educate manufacturers and designers to accommodate left-handers' comfort and safety.

Lefties Left Out Through History
Through analysis of cave drawings, it was historically thought the population of right handed and left handed people was equal in the Stone Age. When tools became more sophisticated, a preference toward the right hand became prevalent. For example, knights once carried a shield to protect their hearts with the left hand but weapons were carried and made for the right hand. With time, left-handed people became buried in history.

Since the beginning of tools, the world has been biased toward right-handed individuals. The average left-handed person finds day-to-day activities harder and uncomfortable. Many everyday tools – such as corkscrews and light bulbs - require a left-to-right wrist turning motion, which is more comfortable for right-handed people. Other tools are designed specifically for use in a right-handed fashion: scissors, can openers, golf clubs, etc. FrogPad now makes living left-handed a little easier.

About FrogPad
FrogPad has been overwhelmed with the interest in its left-handed keyboard. Even right-handed people are learning to use their left hand to type so they can multi-task and solely use their right hand to move the mouse or draw on a drawing tablet. The FrogPad is available today via overnight shipping from offices around the world. FrogPad's offices in Surrey, England, Tokyo, Japan, Burlington, Ontario, Canada and Hamburg, Germany make the delivery of the FrogPad speedy.

The FrogPad keyboard is the ONLY one-handed, ergonomic keyboard that is 1/5th the size of a traditional keyboard, yet easier to use because it is designed around the 15 most-frequently-used letters in the Roman alphabet. Unlike a traditional QWERTY layout, whose design was derived from the limitations of 19th Century typewriter technology, the FrogPad offers a logical key layout and design that encourages correct ergonomic posture. After an average of eight hours of training and practice, most FrogPad users can achieve input rates of the standard 40 words per minute, as compared to the average of 10-20 words per minute by the fastest thumb typists. Additionally, the FrogPad can be ordered with Bluetooth compatibility for the mobile professional on the go.
