AMD's Socket 939 Athlon 64 3500+

Last week, AMD slashed the price of its Athlon 64 3500+ processor by 30%, making the cheapest 939-pin chip more affordable for those saving pennies for a Doom 3-inspired upgrade. There's more to this price cut than the hefty discount, though. Because the 3500+ is AMD's least expensive 939-pin chip, the cut effectively lowers the price of entry for the entire Socket 939 platform.

Is the Athlon 64 3500+ the chip to have for budget-conscious enthusiasts? Is its 3500+ performance rating well-deserved?

Looks good... my friend is going to be mad though, he ordered one of these just before the price drop.

hehe, i did too but lucky me, the supplier called me if i would agree to the new price since he didn't have the old ones on stock.
Offcourse i said no

DOH...kiddin' no way i could refuse that so now i got it for €365 instead of €505, saving me €140. kudos to my supplier !

damn...... i might either pick up one of these.... or see if i can get a deal for 2 optorons

Just dont forget you'll need registered ram for the opteron. The 939's are great since you can reuse your everyday ram but there's no denying what dual cpus can do
