Another review of nVidia's new behemoth.

"I'm sure that everyone is very familiar with the history of NVIDIA. They rose to the top of the PC graphics market, and then suddenly stumbled with its last generation of products, the NV30 series (aka Geforce 5800), and NVidia's first .13-micron part. At that time, due to lack of availability and poor performance results, a mutiny occurred and a lot of people jumped ship and went over to ATI. The NV30 was extremely late to market and, when it finally arrived, it couldn't keep pace with ATI's impressive Radeon 9700 chip. Amid all the coverage, a number of specific words have kept cropping up that described the GeForce FX 5800: dust buster and leaf blower. NVIDIA did a refresh of the NV30 with a series of NV30-derived GPUs that got relatively better over time compared to the competition (FX 5900). ATI retaliated and brought out there own refresh, the Radeon 9800."
