OCZ Breaks 766 MHz DDR2 Barrier

"OCZ Technology Group has made another leap in the new revolutionary DDR2 memory segment. Recently, OCZ has surpassed 766 MHz at 4-5-5 timings on an experimental DFI 915 based board.

“OCZ is proud to be pushing the DDR2 speed boundary,” said Dr. Michael Schuette, Director of Technology Development at OCZ Technology Group. “OCZ consistently spends considerable resources on developing DDR2 modules geared towards achieving outrageous speeds. OCZ DDR2 running at 766MHz marks a significant milestone on the path toward DDR2-800 modules.”

DDR2 is now available in OCZ's Platinum series with Enhanced Bandwidth, Performance series, and our Value series. The OCZ DDR2 product lines offer significantly lower latencies than the JEDEC standard timings."

Nice... I'm waiting for a reasonably priced AMD platform before I start playing with DDR2 though.

NForcer do you notice much of a performance increase after upgrading to DDR2?

Considering I came from a P4 2.4 (400fsb) 4x 256MB PC800 (yes RDRAM) to a P4 3.0 (800 socket-T) 2x 512MB Corsair DDR2 667...OH YEAH did I jump!

I remembered to take photos of the upgrade process, but didn't do any benchmarks. However, I can say that I've already been able to overclock the 3.0 to a 3.6 and run it (with stock cooling) at 27 idle and 39 full-load. Thats quite impressive! I have not pushed for 3.8 yet.

But I'm betting you thought I had DDR to begin with? :P
