Now that we’ve examined Counter-Strike: Source’s performance with high-end cards like the GeForce 6800 GT and RADEON X800 PRO, and investigated Half-Life 2’s rendering paths in our GeForce FX DirectX 9 Performance article, we’re now ready to take a look at performance with today’s mainstream cards. With their reduced performance figures, these cards may not be as sexy to write about, but with their sub-$200 price points, these cards ship in significantly greater volumes, making them relevant to a wide variety of gamers.

My comments:
First of all, the 9800 PRO is just all over this as the best price/performance card ![]() But for those who're looking at raw performance values, the 9500 PRO holds its ground well, surpassing the 9600XT in some cases. I really prefer the 9500 PRO over the 9600XTs. In any case, I think all the people who own these cards will be pleased with the results. As for scalability, I'm impressed by it. But then again it's DX and you should expect good scalability since their are segments like DX9, 8.1, and 7.

It runs very nice on my 9700 Pro, I don't see FPS being a problem at all.

Just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to know the my choice of video cards is the "king of the hill" in the mainstream market.....at least as far as this bench is concerned.
I can live with that.
