Gigabyte Technology will be the first motherboard company to feature the discrete ATI RX330 chipset, with the board to be released by the end of this month, according to market sources. The ATI RX330 supports Intel’s Pentium 4 processors and will compete in the same market segments as Intel’s 865PE chipset, the sources noted.
The RX330 also features an 800MHz FSB and dual-channel DDR memory, but does not include PCIe support. The specifications of the discrete RX330 are similar to those of ATI’s Radeon 9100IGP, but without the integrated graphics core, the sources noted. The RX330 is likely to be priced at below US$15 for 1,000-unit lots. ATI also plans to introduce discrete versions of its forthcoming integrated chipsets, the RS400 and RS480, after they are launched in the fourth quarter of this year, according to the sources. _______________ Source: DigiTimes
