Call of Duty: United Offensive ships

Expansion pack to Activision's award-winning World War II shooter will overrun stores by the end of the week.

Despite an overabundance of World War II shooters, Activision is betting that many people will pick up its latest addition to the genre. That's because said addition is the expansion pack for the award-winning Call of Duty, one of the nominees for GameSpot's Best Shooter of 2003. Rated for "T" for teen, Call of Duty: United Offensive will sell for $29.99 when it arrives in stores, and requires the original Call of Duty to play.

Unlike the Infinity Ward-developed Call of Duty, United Offensive was crafted by Gray Matter Studios. However, the game will still sport the same brand of frenzied WWII action that made its forebear famous. It will add an all-new single-player campaign with 13 missions, including the Battle of the Bulge (American), the invasion of Sicily (British), and the Battle of Kursk (Soviet). United Offensive will also expand the game's multiplayer options with 11 vast new maps and three new play modes.
