ATI Technologies Inc. and RealNetworks Inc. today announced optimizations to provide millions of consumers with a premier computer video experience and a distribution and marketing agreement for RealOne Player and RealOne SuperPass subscription service.
RealNetworks and ATI have collaborated to optimize RealNetworks' RealOne Player and ATI's RADEON 9000 and 9700 FULLSTREAM technology to support accelerated playback of RealVideo(R) 9 through the RealOne Player. These optimizations create a new level of video quality and provide consumers with a superior video experience -- both for streaming and local playback. As part of the agreement, ATI is distributing an optimized RealOne Player with the RADEON 9000 family and is also promoting RealOne SuperPass with ATI graphics cards. RealOne SuperPass is the industry leading Internet paid rich media subscription service offering content from ABCNews.com, CNN.com, MLB.com, NASCAR.com, FOXSports.com and more. All optimizations are available in ATI's current RADEON 9000 and 9700 product bundles and the optimized RealOne Player is available on CDs shipped with all RADEON 9000 graphics cards. The optimization for accelerated playback of RealVideo(R) 9 will also be included in the core of RealOne Player for public download. Read the PR HERE |

umm, I HATE RealPlayer. It's a mediocre player, and it takes over your computer far worse than any other major player out there. Anyone had the RealOne Message Center Pop-up randomly on their computer recently? Not to mention theonly way I've found of disabling it is through msconfig! I'm not sure I like the idea of Real and ATI working together. Real are a bunch of jerks who like to toy with their customers, like the whole realone download process, if you're not careful they can end up making you pay to use RealOne, that and you have to register with them just to use the godamned product. I guess there's nothing we can do, but I just had to vent a little.

You are totally right about RealOne player. It's a totally bloated player, just like Windows Media Player from version 7 on. And it's a shame thyt they still don't support Ogg Vorbis audio. What I use for audio is Winamp 2.x and for video I use Zoom Player. Both are small and fast. It would be much nicer to see ATI talking to DivX codec authors and getting some hardware support for that. |

Since last year, I've given up installing that pile of crap completely. I dont keep it on my computer and I have decided that any stream that is encoded in real format is not worth my time.

If RealONE removed the ads, the extra buttons, and the low quality streaming quality they might have a better product.
I think they are just trying to increase the 'customer annoyance' factor. |

hmmm so I'm the only one that loves Realone??? If you do a cus. install it will not take over your PC... the only thing I have to say about it is that it does not play Ogg Vorbis Audio files
. I use Zoomplayer for .mpeg .mpg and .avi. And all others in Realone (.mov .wmv .mp3). BTW I always pick Realone for streaming stuff, Windows Media streaming stuff sucks for me. One last thing.... I HAVE 100% ALWAYS HATED WINAMP
