A special thank you to the Driverheaven members

Id just like to put out a special thank you to all the driverheaven members who have this month been clicking the ads (primarily the ad under the top ATI ad). This month has been our highest ever click through rate and will massively help the funding of this site.

I really appreciate the fact a lot of our regulars have taken my news post last month on board and have clicked the ads and especially the emails ive received from members who cant afford to donate but have told me they click a few times now everytime they come here. This is honestly so important to the funding and future of Driverheaven.

It also ensures that apart from funding future events like competitions and giveaways it means I can keep the level of ads we have at the minute and not go down the road of more aggressive forced advertising, as you will notice we have also removed intellitxt as it was affecting quite a few people on the site with the speed of loading. If you guys continue to click the ads then we dont need forced advertising like intellitxt.

Once more thank you and i hope you will continue to help support Driverheaven.

Anytime Zardon !

tho i did donate, i also disabled popup-blocking for driverheaven and occasionally click the main banners.
It's so easy to give something back for you in return for the wonderfull site and community you started, so i see no reason not to and advise/encourage all other readers to contribute their share of bannerclicks.

This is the thing I like about DH: it's more personal than other sites, and members here are not scared to thank fellow members. People seem to appreciate others here, rather than using them for a cheap joke and such. I don't have the money to donate as of yet, but I will continue to click the ads at home and especially at work where things get boring sometimes

Thanks for the great site,
Mark

No problem Zardon. I've been coming to DriverHeaven for over a year now (... and 2 1/2 weeks on the forums ) and I've been very impressed with the content and the community behind the site so I'm glad to be able to assist in some way. Running a site of this magnitude isn't free -- not to mention cheap -- so we do what we can to give back.

do you get extra $$ when people browse further in, or does it only count for clicking on it and entering the web page?

Well its nice if you guys visit the sponsors too (OCZ/ULTRA/ATI) but the main ad for making the site revenue is the top ad under the ATI banner. also the towers front page help. but hey whatever you can do, a few clicks a day from everyone would help, doesnt matter the page.

I click on ads whenever I use the site at school, however, that home hardware type ad is pissing me off the way it opens down and covers half the site.

Just an opinion, but I love DH

I love this site and I will continue to click, but I'm just slightly curious, how does it exactly work that users that only click but never actually purchase anything, how does that add revenue?

I mean, it would only seem logical that for any company to earn revenue = they have to sell a product.

I've wondered about this before and excuse my ignorance on this subject but how does that work? The members that click ads but never end up purchasing anything - how does that turn out revenue?

I would like to wish DriverHeaven the best of luck in the future.

My firewall is my blocker, so I've now granted "external content" permissions to DH - and revoked flash - as an Nvidia user, I refuse to assailed by animated ATI on every page.

I tend to click the google ads, as they tend to be the least scummy, and semi-relevant - though I bet the "Free spyware remover" would pull google up for tracking cookies.

Necessary evils, but evil they certainly are - mind you, only tribalfusion.com are on my shoot on sight list, for having no redeeming features whatsoever - tribalfusion are SCUM.

falkag (the banner under the ATI) seem to need to be read the riot act rather too often by Z, but at least on this site, they are kept in check.

The way banners work, as I understand is:
1. Per 100,000 show - rare these days, unless it's a banner exchange... maybe some really huge sites may still have pay per show - very low rates.
2. Per 1000 clickthrough - as I understand it, most banners would be on this basis, with some protection against abuse.

3. Per action - this tends to be an affiliate banner, rather than an ad-agency banner, and rates of up to 2.5% of resulting sales, or several pence for a comparison site search and qualifying clickout.

I've mentioned Amazon before - with a decent set of affiliate schemes, DH could probably dump all those scummy adservers.
