Micron Technology Inc. is set to demonstrate its DDR-II platform at the VIA Technical Forum (VTF) in Taiwan this week. Micron said its next-generation DDR memory type is running at 533Mbit/sec. per pin and achieves system bandwidth of 4300Mbytes/sec.
"With this system, we have been able to fully characterize the DDR-II memory channel performance while operating in a system environment," said Terry Lee, executive director of advanced technology and strategic marketing for Micron’s computing and consumer group, in a statement. "While the industry adoption of DDR-II in high volume is not expected until late 2003 and early 2004, our customers benefit from our early system analysis work. Micron will enable our customers to effectively utilize DDR-II memory technology in the same manner as we have DDR-I."
