Default Post Mortal Kombat: Deception ships millionth unit

This just in: apparently violence sells. After its first week on the market, Mortal Kombat: Deception, the title in Midway's fighting franchise, has shipped one million units. The bloody fighting title has become the fastest-selling game in Midway's history, eclipsing its antecedent Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.

Mortal Kombat: Deception continues the series' trademark brutality, with plenty of hard-hitting 3D combat and highly controversial fatality moves. The game introduces new game modes, two fatalities per character, and online play for the Xbox and PlayStation 2. A GameCube version is expected in early 2005. For more about Mortal Kombat: Deception's decapitations and dismemberings in gory detail, read our review of the game.

Update

Midway as just register one more name on the Mortal Kombat series, in the US Patents Office. So dont be suprissed if the next game on the series is called "Mortal Kombat: Shoalin Monks". It is yet unclear if this game is going to be a continuation of "Deception" or if its going to be anouther "spinoff" of the series like "MK: Special Forces" was. We all just have to wait and see.

deception is just amazing man.... its TRUE mortal kombat, nostalgia is there which made it feel authentic as well as loads of kontent explaining history.

one thing they still need is team fighting and a slightly easier combo system (timing the moves are rough at times), then it will be perfect IMO. and having everyone back with many of the stages redesigned (little diffs) would be good. dead pool was perfect, had a fight with mileena and scorpion just felt authentic

I'm not a big fan of the MK series, although I do like the 3D versions of MK more than their 2D counterparts. I enjoyed MK4 when it came out. I found MK: Deadly Alliance alright, and I have yet to play MK: Deception, but it looks very packed with lots of mini-goodies.
