DH Review: ASUS STAR ICE cooler

With today's extremely powerful processors the enthusiast market who dont want to delve into more exotic areas like watercooling or phase change still demand high quality air cooling, with this in mind we are going to take a look at one of the largest coolers ive ever seen, the Asus Star Ice. Ive had good experiences with some quality Asus components lately, the AX800XT PCIe graphics card and the Slot 775 P5AD2 Premium Motherboard, so I had high hopes for this new product.

The Asus Star Ice is very versatile with compatibility for Socket 478/754/939 and 775.

I posted about this thing about 3 weeks ago wondering if anyone here had ever used one.I didnt get a single response.I was talking to an ASUS rep about the thing.I'm getting one for my Alienware rig w/ the ASUS P5AD2-Premimum MoBo.But I have to find 1 first! And yes mainman. The ASUS rep. told me thats what the engineer's at ASUS designed it after,a jet engine.

Thats more than likely due to the fact no one had one, they are just out this week.

Hey Zardon,I fineally got my Alienware rig back Saturday. The one I was having the overheating problem with, with the LGA775 P-4 3.4GHz EE proc. in it.{We spoke aboutthe temps. a few weeks ago}They put in another processor and this one is running as cool as a cucumber.it's OCing to 3.7GHz with ease.I'm hoping for 3.9 with the Star Ice onboard. They even comped me another gig of DDR2 for my trouble.

What temps were you getting on the extreme edition (the one you returned?) and what are they now?
