Worlds biggest digital photo 7.5 Gbytes

Researchers in the Netherlands have created the worlds biggest digital image of the city of Delft by stitching together over 600 single snaps.

If the image were to be printed at 300 dpi it would measure 2.5m high by 6m long.

The final image size of 7.5 Gbytes at 24bit color and contains 2.5 gigapixels was created as a "summertime challenge" from the Dutch laboratory TNO and the stitching process took 5 PCs over 3 days to create.
