Abit introduces CPU Accelerator technology on AA8-DuraMAX and AG8 motherboards
Abit has introduced many features that allow users to get the most out of their systems through motherboard overclocking, from SoftMenu, a jumperless BIOS, to OTES cooling, OC strips, and the uGuru utility. Today, Abit has introduced another technology to its lineup – CPU Accelerator.
The speed or frequency of a CPU is calculated by a simple formula, the front-side bus (FSB) multiplied by the clock multiplier value is equal to CPU frequency. For example, an Intel Pentium 4 3.4GHz CPU operates with a 200MHz (800MHz quad-pumped) front-side bus. Using a clock multiplier of 17, 200MHz FSB × 17 = 3.4GHz. Traditionally, the multipliers of Intel Pentium 4 CPUs are locked, which means that users are unable to change this value. The only way to overclock one of these systems would be to increase front side bus speed. Abit’s CPU Accelerator basically enables users to change the multiplier factor of their CPUs. By altering the CPU multiplier, users can more easily find the optimal operating speed of their systems for massive performance gains. CPU Accelerator also supports increasing the speed of the FSB. CPU Accelerator allows users to run their 800MHz FSB CPUs at a 1066MHz Front Side Bus. CPU Accelerator can increase system performance by as much as 33%. CPU Accelerator is found on Intel 915P, 925X, and 925XE-based Abit motherboards. Current models include the AG8, AA8-DuraMAX, AA8XE, and the new Fatal1ty AA8XE. _______________ Screenshots/Source: digitimes |
