it's a simple matter of not appreciating anything you get for free...
but if it's raffled off the chances of me (or you) getting it are pretty much nil anyway, so we may as well have a little fun..

i say cleave it in twain with a sharp axe, then microwave one half to appease most of the posters, and burn/melt the other half to appease the rest. Overclocking sounds lame, so you get a little smoke and maybe some flame - big deal. If you're going to burn something, do it right!

I gotta say even as a ATI fanboy i find this act rather disturbing, it's not like it's a bad card like the crappy FX series or an old MX. What good is there in destroying a perfectly good top of the range card?

Why not do something good for the local community instead by selling the card on Ebay and giving the money to charity? There is enough death and destruction in the world already, no one wants to see $500 worth of hardware destroyed just for the 'hell of it'. I know, i know...i sound like a preacher, but this is just plain stupid in my opinion.

I hope you guys aren't expecting donations anytime soon if this is what we get for the money.

Please think about what your doing, this isn't the sort of thing that most people would call 'fun', this sorta thing comes across as stupid. (this thread reminds on of that dumb tv show called jackass, where they got nothing better to do than hurt themselves or damage property and all just for the hell of it.

I got a good idea but it'd only work if you lived in seattle.

Take it to the NOAH researchers and ask them to take it down in Alvin2 down really deep where there is so much pressure that it'll be compressed(perfectly compressed mind you) down to be the size of your thumb or so. And trust me its not gunna shatter. I've taken ceramic down there and had it come back perfectly...just about an 8th of the size

It'd be so cool.

cept no video to show peopel since you cant see it down there.

Ok this thread is closed, keep your eyes open on Monday for a nice downloadable video of the card being burnt to a crisp, we will try and make an extra long "whiner version" for all those who complained and wanted it for themselves, just so it brings a tear to your eye.
