There comes a time in a technology's life where it outlives its usefulness and is replaced by a newer, better technology. We saw the beginning of the end of the VHS recorder in the UK this week and now that PCI express is available on both the Intel and AMD platform the time has come to get rid of all those old dodgy AGP cards...we invite you to do the same.

Of course we cant just ask you to do something like that without doing so ourselves so here today is your chance to choose how we "retire" our ageing Geforce 6800 Ultra... please take time to review the poll in this thread and choose which option you would like to see most. We shall leave the poll open until sometime tomorrow (or the weekend) and the winning option will be photographed/videoed over the weekend and the results available for you to download on Monday.

Have fun... and if you can think of any better ideas for destruction that dont risk my personal safety please feel free to suggest them...

NOTE: If you decide to destroy your own AGP Cards please be careful, we take no responsibility for damage to your person or property. We would like to see your destruction pics though

lol, that card is not old, why destroy it, can't you have a lottery her on DH??

But if you want to destroy it then I suggest that you drown it while it's in use, should be nice sparkles.

Just a quick note, the option to set the card on fire sounds cool however i doubt it'll do much to it. The others will be more interesting i think... so the car option gets my vote

I would suggest giving it away in a contest if it's not broken.

You dont think we give enough away in competitions? I'm sure we can sort out something for another comp anyway. In the mean time... forget about giveaways etc and start thinking about how we can have some fun with the card and you with your old ones...

Well you have to excuse me here Stuart, I hope I don't offend you or somtehing but I think it's stupid to destroy a card that is not broken no mattter if it's an Nvida or Ati, I bet there is somebody out there that really would like to have the chance to win this card.

Is just because it's a Nvidia card??

Sorry, my Nvidia comment was a joke. If i had a X8 lying about i'd have done that however my choice was a GF4 MX, Voodoo 5500 PCI or this. Its just a bit of fun. The main intention isnt what i destroy its what cool stuff you guys can come up with for destroying your own hardware (safely).

Well, if you really want to destroy hardware. I know a cool way, me and a friend tossed my old Soyo Dragon+ mobo in the air and shot it with a shotgun...that was fun..

But it still makes my heart bleed a bit, seeing that you're going to destroy a functional high-end graphicscard. But hey do what ever you want with it....

It only overclocks to 500 core and 1200 ram no need to be fretting.

I think it's wrong to kill a card that once served you without a fuss. (it's an expensive high end one anyhow).

But.......since it's a Ge-force I'm right behind you ALL THE WAY!!!!!! Thing sucks up too much power anyway-let it die.

And just for the record, I saw some avi's of PCF destroying some mondo old hardware back in the day. And yes, the car was the funniest, but they didn't just run the aging rig over, they tied it to the back of the car and dragged it along till it was all in pieces!!!!

Now that is an honurable way I think to end that cards life.
