Update:

The new drivers have a new menu, that some may like called Performance and Quality, which has different settings for Performance, allowing you divert Performance to three options: Application, Balanced, or Aggressive.

The area also contains the settings for Texture Sharpening and FSAA & AF.

The AGP Settings area, has also been changed and fixed.

Default Post Question.

What is "personal cinema" and why did nVidia just make an empty directory for it on their ftp? (The Dig simply can not resist directory browsing. )

Default Post WHQLed?

Ok.I'm new around this forum. I got these 41.03's from the links @Warp2search. Are u sure they are WHQLed coz i still get that same warning, about them not being that.
My bench scores went down untill i put the drivers to aggressive mode.

Q: Does anyone know does that mode uses some kind of driver overclocking or is it just a simple option in the menu?

And installer of the drivers seems kind of different, i was surprised when a window popped out telling me it detected the old drivers.

So far these seem the best. Although i got the best scores with 40.41's

41.03 are soooo bad !
SImply bad, I am sticking with 40.72 !

And I can't even get my refreshrates fixed in 41.03, seems like they are forever frozen at 60Hz.
With 40.72 I am able to get 120Hz at 1152x864

Also bad performance in games like Counterstrike.
Also bad benchmark.

Stick with 40.72!

These drivers rock for me, even though the control panel is knacked up, its better than the previous attemptys! Also it seems that the refresh rate stuff is sorted, for me anyway.

Ok now. As far for the refresh rate is concerned try refreshlock(reforce).I dont have the link at hand so use some kind of search and find it. I use it for a while now and it works on all of the drivers. At least it does for me.

About the panel. i don't see anything wrong with it. I don't believe that a variety of systems out there has something to do with the panel. Maybe if u uninstall drivers and then install the new ones...

Also readme for these drivers say nothing about being just for quadro based cards. Its just a usual readme file as seen from all of the previous versions.

Funny thing is that they are still not posted on Nvidia's site. I guess once again we are test subjects.

All this is just my humble opinion.

These drivers sucked for me because in opengl games like Quake3 everything comes up dark and brightness slider doesn't work. I was running the 40.72's and this was not issue though it did occur on my system with the Nvidia driver version previous to the 40.72. Frame rates were good though.

Also UT2K3 was completely borked with many, many artifacts.

I reinstalled the 40.72's. I'll have to wait for another update on these drivers and see what happens.

My system: P4 2.26@2.5 Ghz/ASUS P4T533-c/712 megs RDRAM PC1066/MSI Geforce4 4200/WinXP Home version 2600 w/SP1

p.s. First post!

well they don't work for me either, i have a geforce 3 ti200. but the thing is, the 40.72 just won't do it for me either, there's this weird flash sometimes on my screen, i'm still sticking with the 30.82, cause perfomance wise i don't see any difference with any of the 40.blabla drivers, they pretty much suck for me.

the 41.03 seems fine, but then I don't run games on my monster xp box, that's for serious work...I keep a copy of WinMe on this linux box as a dual boot for games...I don't see why MS didn't do what I suggested, namely make a 9x with all 32 bit code...they obviously don't much care for their customers forcing a high security, workstation system down their throats...alot of us will have to be support techs for mommy and daddy when "permission denied" pops up....regforce seems to be a good utility, the others you have links to specifically say not to use them with the newer drivers...on the positive side, MS is convincing alot of us to go linux, and even the Mac with its bsd4.4 core and no product activation seem better alternatives...51% of all windows software is games, so maybe that's what it should be relegated to. (Opera 6.03 under RedHat 8.0)

Default Post Refresh rate fix

First install the 40.72 drivers, set your favorite refresh rate.
Restart the PC do not uninstall the old drivers 40.72, but install the 41.03 over it and you will see the refresh rate in your games are still 100 Hz (or what your favorite refresh rate is), so i fixed the refresh rate (WINXP SP1) with the 41.03 drivers.

Default Post the truth (I think...)

The 41.03 IS a quadro driver. This explains why no 9x driver...for those who don't know (and those who do bear with me) a quadro is a developer card which is much more expensive than it's regular counterpart. There are quadro's for the ti series as well as mx. The quadro drivers (and card) are simply the best chips in each line as they test off the wafer...they have more options for developers and are concerned with image quality and NOT frame rates. Somewhere once I saw a bios tweak that turns a regular card into thinking it's a quadro, gives you extra utilities and such. So don't expect a 9x version cause developers use STABLE os's, and yes it will work with your normal geforce card, but expect better image quality and lower framerates. As I keep my games on this linux/Me dual boot, I love the xp image improvements and don't much care about framerates...if you go to the nvidia site notice you can only get the 41.03 by choosing the quadro option...I will continue to use the quadro for the image quality but you gamers should stick with the latest standard driver.

Default Post These drivers are the schiznit!!

The color boldness and text clarity are awesome and they also cleared up some issues I had with enabling shadows in Ghost Recon. Frame rates are about the same as with the 40.72's and average around 110. This is the first driver I have tried in a while that has actually impressed me with the difference. It was noticeable after the first reboot. These are definitely keepers for me!
